Building upon the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA), the Medical Assistance Tool (MAT) is a confidential, free-to-use research tool that gives patients, loved ones and health care providers a single point of access to hundreds of public and private assistance programs, as well as connecting them with more transparent information about the cost of medicine. The site is sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association and contains approximately 900 public and private assistance programs that help those with financial need get access to their prescriptions.
